Orange County Transportation Authority OC Rail Infrastructure Defense Against Climate Change Plan

Project focused on resiliency, sustainability, and climate change mitigation measures for OCTA rail systemwide. Evaluated potential green solutions and vegetation management strategies for climate-related vulnerabilities intended to maintain and increase ridership moving forward. Researched best practices for rail stations and identified appropriate vegetative and green solutions and vegetation management strategies. Developed prioritization matrix for green infrastructure solutions and vegetation management strategies. Focused on strategies most applicable for inland versus coastal areas and for stations owned by others than OCTA. Developed life-cycle cost estimates for recommended solutions. Included green infrastructure using GIS, landscape architecture, plant palettes, and erosion control for infrastructure projects to help address flooding and steep slope challenges as well as to mitigate impacts from climate change and periods of drought and high precipitation on this coastal, industrial, and transportation project.
